To support rapid growth in domestic and international parcel volumes, Sirma delivered DESY, a modular, web-based logistics platform that became the digital backbone of Speedy’s operations.
Business Challenge
From Legacy Limits to Scalable Logistics
Speedy’s legacy system struggled to keep up with rising parcel volumes and the operational complexity of a nationwide, internationally connected courier network. It could not easily support standardized, barcode‑driven processes, which led to more manual handling, higher error risk, and constraints on how fast couriers could work. Speedy and Sirma set out to replace those legacy capacity limits with a scalable logistics platform that could keep pace with Bulgaria’s fast-growing parcel economy.
Project Scope
The project focused on designing and implementing a unified logistics platform that covered all critical business domains. DESY was built to support Marketing, User Management, Logistics Network management, Call Centre operations, Dispatch, Financial Operations, and Online Logistics in a single, integrated environment.
Speedy selected Sirma for its proven experience in building mission-critical, high-volume transactional systems and its ability to design platforms aligned with international logistics standards. Sirma’s expertise in modern web and mobile architectures enabled Speedy to reduce transformation risk while ensuring the new system could scale with DPD network requirements and evolving customer expectations.
Delivery
Sirma delivered DESY as a modular, web-based platform, complemented by a dedicated mobile module tailored for field couriers. Deep barcode reader integration was implemented across the network to support fast, accurate parcel handling at every touchpoint, from pickup and sorting to last-mile delivery.
Results
DESY enabled Speedy to scale seamlessly into the DPD global network with a future-proof, modular architecture capable of handling growing international parcel volumes. Courier productivity increased thanks to the mobile module and barcode-driven workflows, while operational transparency and control improved across the end-to-end logistics chain.
