Client Overview
Discordia, one of the largest transport and logistics operators in Bulgaria, needed to modernise how it planned and communicated schedules for more than 2,300 drivers. Together with Sirma, Discordia implemented a Driver Schedule Management Platform and strengthened its BI foundations, creating a scalable digital layer that boosts planner productivity and increases transparency across the entire driver workforce.
Business Challenge
Discordia’s 30 planners, each responsible for 60–120 drivers, were relying on manual, error‑prone tools to create and update schedules. The organisation needed an enterprise‑scale system capable of bulk scheduling, role‑based access, full audit trails, and real‑time change tracking, combined with personalised, secure access for every driver, so that planning could be both efficient and fully transparent across the workforce.
Project Goal
The initiative focused on digitising driver scheduling while reinforcing Discordia’s analytics environment. Sirma was tasked with delivering a web‑based Driver Schedule Management Platform that meets strict requirements for bulk scheduling, RBAC, auditability, and real‑time updates, and with providing ongoing Oracle BI platform support across Discordia’s Oracle Transportation Management (OTM)–based data warehouse and Power BI reporting landscape.
Discordia chose Sirma as a partner able to address both operational planning requirements and data transparency in a single engagement. Sirma’s expertise in enterprise‑grade web platforms, transport and logistics, and Oracle‑based BI environments made it possible to design a system that meets demanding scheduling, security, and audit needs while keeping reporting and compliance tightly aligned.
Solution Delivery
Sirma built a comprehensive Driver Schedule Management Platform as a web‑based system featuring an intuitive Handsontable calendar interface for planners. The platform delivers bulk scheduling capabilities, role‑based access control, automated nightly driver synchronisation, real‑time change tracking, and complete audit trails, while a personalised web portal provides secure schedule access for all 2,300+ drivers; in parallel, Sirma maintains Discordia’s Oracle ADW/OTM data warehouse and Power BI reporting environment to support transparent, data‑driven operations.
Business Result
The new platform has transformed how Discordia plans and shares driver schedules. Planners can now execute bulk changes in minutes instead of hours, every schedule update is tracked and auditable, and more than 2,300 drivers have personalised, secure access to their own schedules via web portal, raising operational transparency and strengthening GDPR‑aligned control across the organisation.
- Higher planner productivity. Bulk scheduling and an intuitive calendar interface allow planners to manage large driver pools quickly, significantly cutting time spent on manual updates.
- Increased transparency for drivers. Each driver accesses an up‑to‑date, personalised schedule through a secure portal, reducing miscommunication and ad‑hoc queries.
- Full auditability and real‑time control. Role‑based access, full audit trails, and real‑time change tracking close accountability gaps and support compliant, well‑governed scheduling processes.
- Future‑ready architecture. A modular design supports planned integrations with OTM and SAP, ensuring scheduling and reporting can evolve with Discordia’s growth.
Technology Stack
The Driver Schedule Management Platform is implemented using ASP.NET Core and React.js, delivering a responsive, web‑based experience for planners and drivers alike. In the analytics layer, Oracle ADW, MS SQL Server, Oracle OTM, and Power BI underpin Discordia’s transport data warehouse and reporting, providing a robust base for current operations and future integrations.
Sirma × Discordia Relationship
By combining operational scheduling modernisation with BI platform support, Sirma has become a strategic technology partner for Discordia’s planning and transport data landscape. This collaboration provides a solid foundation for ongoing improvements in planner productivity and organisational transparency as Discordia grows and integrates more closely with systems such as OTM and SAP. Both operational transparency and GDPR compliance improved significantly across the organisation.
