Background
One of the most prominent business and financial publishers in Europe is Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC. The enterprise comprises 84 different brands and business units, including the leading financial market titles Euromoney and Institutional Investor and more than 100 magazines, newsletters, and journals. The publisher has inherited a wide variety of media production, content management, and presentation systems with no ability to communicate between them.
The Goal
With more than 100 different publications produced throughout the company, Euromoney was in an urgent need to streamline their publishing processes through the implementation of a single, consolidated platform for creating and presenting content. The new platform had to reuse and repurpose content within and between different business units, and to offer functionalities such as rich navigation and text analytics.
The Challenge
A single group-wide platform would need to manage a substantial diversity of knowledge domains, covered by the different business units. The field of expertise included trading in commodities, macroeconomic research and much more. This content diversity required flexible domain modelling and different content enrichment tools.
The content also needed to be enriched with metadata, interlinked to a specific domain model, and able to provide rich content analytics and interaction to subscribers. From a technology viewpoint, it had to be semantically analyzed, enhanced, and integrated into a production environment with 360 visibility across the various business units. The alternative to handle it manually for over 100 publications was costly and time-consuming.
The Solution
Euromoney has implemented a novel technology via an intelligent publishing and information platform. It comprises the latest authoring, storing, and display technologies including semantic search and a triplestore repository. The technology, recommended by leading IT consultants with a proven track record, was already used for big media companies with similar problems such as the BBC and the Press Association.
Euromoney has used Sirma AI/Ontotext proprietary technology Graph DB to create a semantic database for its two main product lines - market-oriented content and macroeconomic investment research reports. All news related to M&A deals, Equity prospects, IPOs, Bonds issuance, etc. have been produced owing to the new publishing platform.
